Parents and caregivers are essential partners in the learning process. We love our work engaging with parents and caregivers and our main parent program Read to Me, gives participants an understanding of the reading and writing process.
Over the last 10 years, on International Literacy Day, Wendy Bean (on behalf of ALEA Sydney North) has delivered books to new born babies and parents at Royal North Shore Hospital. We would love to see this expand to other hospitals but in the meantime we are happy to provide sessions in libraries and community centres as well as more formal settings. The workshops give many practical suggestions to use at home to develop an interest in reading and writing as well as supporting your child’s literacy at school.

For early childhood educators, parents and caregivers of young children start with the FREE ALEA Little People’s Literacy Learning modules.
