Currently is a self employed consultant working nationally and internationally.Wendy works in schools with teachers and leadership teams to support postitive change in student outcomes. She lectures part-time for the University of Wollongong and was the Project Manager for the Australian Government Literacy and Numeracy Summer School which was a consortium between the University of New England, Edith Cowan University, ALEA and led by the University of Wollongong. The Summer school took place in January 2008 with 225 teachers attending Wollongong University and 75 attending Edith Cowan University.
Wendy taught in the Australian school system for 15 years and was a Literacy Consultant in the Riverina Region for two years. She has also worked as the national consultant for an educational publisher in Australia.
She has worked on several national government education projects, designed and implemented a range of professional development courses and worked in classrooms with teachers.
On behalf of Wollongong University, between 1993-2002 Wendy conducted national training for Frameworks in Australia, Papua New Guinea and the United States and acted as a consultant to the University of Wollongong for Frameworks Australia.
Wendy regularly presents at local, national and international conferences and has written several books for teachers. Her published works include the Frameworks Spelling Course as well as several books on techniques for teaching spelling and developing writing and spelling curriculum. Her most recent publication, Writing Instruction K-6: Understanding Process Purpose and Audience was co-authored with Dr Jan Turbill. It is published by RC Owens, USA, and available online - see Purchase box to the right.
In 2001 she was awarded an Australian Research Grant to complete an Honours Master of Education through the University of Wollongong. The topic of her thesis was the Relationship Between Teacher Learning and School Culture.
